The SUNFISH approach to cloud federation aims at filling the gap of a security-centric design of cloud federation. The consortium proposal consists of a platform that enables and facilitates the federation of individual clouds of any nature adhering to a set of pre-defined technical requisites. The SUNFISH cloud federation platform offers Federation-as-a-Service (FaaS), a new and innovative cloud federation solution that enables the secure creation and management of cloud federations. Enforcing such a governance, FaaS proposes an innovative exploitation of block-chain, the technology supporting the development of distributed ledgers featuring strong integrity guarantees.
The general FaaS approach – together with the project’s results achieved so far – have been presented and discussed during the public workshop organised “back-to-back” with the project’s General Assembly Meeting, held the last 29th and 30th of March in Qawra (Malta).
In this occasion also the Maltese Minister for Finance, Prof Edward Scicluna, and the Maltese Minister for Competitiveness and Digital, Maritime and Services Economy, Dr Emanuel Mallia, attended and delivered a speech.
